Elementary PE Teacher and Track Coach
About Me

I am a "Senior Plus" as I am sometimes called. Although I already have a degree in Sports Mangagement and Leisure Recreation, I am back in school to get my PE Teaching Certificate. I would liek to finish getting my certificate within another year and half, and become an Elementary PE Teacher.

I want to become a PE Teacher to young children, because I love playing with children, watching them grow, helping them learn about sports and the sports they like to play. I also like to be outdoors and feel children should spend more time outdoors playing and getting exercise.

My Teaching Philosophy

My Teaching Philosophy:

I feel that children need to spend more time outdoors exercising and playing than indoors. I feel it PE gives students a chance to play outside, exercise, make friends, and improve their fine/gross motor skills. PE also teaches children how to have sportsman like attitudes toward winning and loosing. As a PE Teacher, I will teach my students the benefits of staying healthy, using the talents to play sports God gave them, how to work as team, and what competition is truly about. I will do this while also teaching children to give glory to God for the athletic abilities they have.

Rules about Football

I researched many websites about how to play football. Something I found, was a game that could be played to teach students the concept of football with out being so rough. It is sort of like frisbee golf, but with a football. The class divides up into 2 teams( offense and Defense). The football is then passed through the air by team mates until being thrown into the touch-down area. If the ball hits the ground it is automatically the other teams ball, or if the ball is intercepted, it goes to the team that inercepts it. There is no tackling or two hand touch, just learning how to through and catch the ball.

I actually tried teaching this game to my PE class I teach, they liked it a lot. I found it works best with 4th and 5th grades. The girls also got invovled and liked more than I thought they would. This game helped them to learn basic concepts and kept them from getting hurt.
